    Camp Ripley Open House

    Date:      2019 Sept 15  Time:  10:00 - 2:00

Location: 15000 Highway 11-1  Little Falls, Minnesota 56345

This Open House is going to be a big year. Charles Kapsner a world renowned artist is unveiling the final piece of a five piece art set of the Air Force.

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are approaching Camp Ripley's Biennial Open House on September 15, 2019.
On behalf of COL Brian Melton, we would like to invite you to have an
informational booth and/or static display at our Open House.

This year's theme is a dedication to the U.S. Air Force. Our intent is to
give recognition to the Air Force and Charles Kapsner finishing the final of
five paintings of the Service Branches. Interest in this year's event has
led us to anticipate an attendance of 3,000 or more people. We hope you can
join us for this special occasion.

Timeline for the events is 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Displayed will be booths,
a car show, food vendors and military displays. We will have a ceremony from
12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. We respectfully ask that everyone shut down during
the ceremony and make their way over to view the event. Following the
ceremony, we will start up with the displays again until 2:00 p.m.

    We ask that everyone set-up between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. You may set-up
the night before if you would like, with prior coordination.

Please RSVP no later than August 30, 2019 to reserve a spot for the Open House.

    Red Bull Black Hills Run

September 26,27,28th 2019 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday)

    Whitewood South Dakota

This event is open to 10 vehicles, any MV up to probably a 1 ½ ton. It is a three day event in the northern Black Hills.

    Now see this:

Send it out now!, you have until the middle of June to contact Lee.  Sorry, after that you can not attend.  Click the links, you will see why it fills up fast!  Great fun, better than on horseback, some say.  Ask about the ride share feature.  Join us.

    Thank you John, Lee

We will start each morning at 9 am, stop for lunch along the trail or at a place of interest and be back to town around 3 pm. Most of the trails are low gear low range. The trails are not difficult but have challenging areas. You may get a scratch or your skidplate may rub, but no serious rock crawling.

    Show me:  https://youtu.be/t3Nz5qmrh3o

I have Jeeped this area for many years. There are many breathtaking views, historic sights, and interesting things to see. I have a friend there who will guide us in the area and are lifelong residents of the Whitewood/ Sturgis area.

John has a very nice collection of Military Jeeps, M37’s as well as other interesting vehicles. He is also an expert on the history of the Black Hills as well as George Armstrong Custers Travels in the Black Hills and will share his knowledge along the trail.

Whitewood is roughly 600 miles west of Minneapolis. You will be responsible for the transportation of you and your vehicle to and from Whitewood, which most people will be travelling on Wednesday, September 25th, to Whitewood.

    How much fun?:  https://youtu.be/d_cjSzq6iLI

Note that the riding in the Black Hills begins on Thursday, September 26th. There is a block of rooms at the Iron Horse Inn in Whitewood, rate will be $49.50 per nite for a 2 bed room. Or you can stay or camp elswhere on your own. This is an opprotunity to see a side of the Black Hills few get to expierience and with an excellent guide!

I like it, sign me up!:

If this is of interest to you, here are the rules:

Your vehicle must be in SOUND operating condition, and have a WORKING parking brake!

I expect you to do a 200-300 mile shakedown run prior to the trip, things break down and I understand that, BUT there is no excuse for lack of maintenance. A clean fuel system is a must. Your fuel tank will get shook up, and if not clean, you will have trouble!

You will also need a basic small parts supply for your vehicle, items like, Fuel pump, points & condenser.

No special permits or license is required as long as your vehicle is street licensed and insured, you are good to go!

Its late September. Be prepared for cool mornings and possible rain. We will have alternate trails if it rains, but not as much fun, LOL

A Family Band GMRS radio is also required, cheap at most stores and will allow you to hear the history along the trails, as well as keep the group informed of trail conditions ahead.
