BLACK HILLS SOUTH DAKOTA TRAIL RIDING

August 20th (Sunday) - August 26th, 2023 (Saturday)

Trail riding starts 10 am, Sunday, August 20th, departing Saturday, August 26th. There will be two legs/parts to the trip. You can do both Legs or just one Leg. See details below. If interested, it is very important that you schedule the Deadwood hotel as explained below ASAP.

Leg 1: Deadwood, South Dakota: Sunday, August 20th departing Wednesday, August 23rd for Hot Springs. Officially Leg 1 starts Sunday, 10:00 a.m. on August 20th. Starting that night, the 20th, we have a block of rooms at Deadwood Gulch Resort. This is the same hotel as in 2022.

Reservations: Call Deadwood Gulch Resort, Deadwood, South Dakota. Phone number is: 605-578-1294. A block of a few rooms is reserved under the name Shelley Landgraf. There are notes in each of the reservations that 1st floor is preferred. Rates for the King rooms for the nights of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are approximately $85 (discount already applied and a light breakfast) per night plus taxes.

Please call ASAP for the reservation. If applicable, Jeeps can be parked outside your 1st floor room. There is good parking there for truck and trailers on the grounds and then Surplus parking over across the street the convention center. The hotel is .9 of a mile from central downtown Deadwood. Note for Leg 1: Trail riding starts at 10 a.m. Sunday, August 20th from Deadwood Gulch Resort. If needed, for your Saturday night, August 19th there are two options for hotels: 1) Deadwood Gulch (same hotel) Saturday, August 19th, the rate is approximately $161 with discounts (and a light breakfast) already applied. There are some rooms under the same block of Shelley Landgraf for Saturday evening. 2) If you choose to stay somewhere else on Saturday night, there is the Iron Horse Inn, 600 Whitewood Service Road, Whitewood, South Dakota. This hotel is approximately 14 miles from Deadwood. The rate there for any night is $75 each night. You are also welcome to call around for another hotel. Just remember the convoy starts 10 a.m. Sunday.

Leg 2: For those on the second leg of the Convoy we leave Deadwood Wednesday, August 23rd, to trail down to Hot Springs for three nights.

This will be a little different kind of accommodation. We will stay in rooms of the old hospital. They won't be as luxurious but you'll have your own hospital room and then there will be common bathrooms and common showers on the floor. We will be staying the night of the 23rd, 24th, and 25th departing on Saturday the 26th. While reservations are not required, please let Steve Landgraf know you will be in Hot Springs. The rate for each room will be only small payments of $30/night. This will be a unique stay with a surprise.

A person could attend Leg One or Leg Two or both. Please let us know if you have any questions or are coming on our little convoy.
